This is not a test! Instagram is launching a huge new feature which is going to change social media marketing entirely. Instagram this week has finally made it’s long coming move to turn into a direct commerce platform. The social platform is launching a feature that lets users who have uploaded their credit card details immediately buy products they see in their feed, in a few clicks. The new feature, called “Checkout,” launches in a “closed beta” form for U.S. users this week.

The tap-to-buy feature is the most significant shopping update Instagram has instituted. The platform has been slowly building up to this very significant moment. As a brand, it’s time to prepare accordingly for what could be the single biggest shift in social commerce for a decade. I mean that. What’s next? We know Facebook are working hard on blockchain / crypto. Is the next step “Pay with Facebook coin”?
