The role of influencers are more and more accepted, yet recent changes in the Instagram app seems to point at a not so appreciative Instagram. Or so we thought… Right now Instagram is testing with creator accounts!
To illustrate that they clearly see the value of influencers (their top performers, most active and influential users), Instagram has been testing a new Creator Account profile.
These “Creator Accounts” will give influencers specialized tools to manage their account and would give them access to an even more detailed account of their analytics than those presently available on the app. Additionally this new account would also offer filters to their direct messages.
Currently, Influencers and Creators use a “business account” which are clearly not designed to benefit creatives such as Influencers, but are simply the best available tool currently available to them. But Instagram’s product manager makes it abundantly clear that they see the issue and want to find the best way to offer solutions for their Creative users:
“[Creators are] an important part of our community…. We want to make sure that Instagram is the best place, and the easiest place, to build fan communities and also build [creators’] personal brands.”
These creator accounts are currently still being Beta tested but promise to offer Influencer more insight into their posts popularity and their growth.
What do you think of these new accounts?
